Dr. Bernardy is considered an out-of-network provider by most insurance companies. This means that the majority of clients who have insurance are eligible to be reimbursed a significant portion of the visit fees. Labs, imaging, procedures and medications are not included in the visit price but will be discussed before incurred.

We provide 'Superbills' by request from our patients. Superbills are receipts for medical care with insurance codes on them that insurance companies accept, and reimburse their customers directly (depending on your plan, see below insurance section for more information).

If your insurance plan covers out-of-network naturopathic care, you'll get reimbursed for services at the out-of-network rate once you've met your out-of-network deductible for the year. HSA plans can also frequently be used to get reimbursement.

We are paid by our patients, not the insurance companies directly. This was a very conscious decision by our clinic. We don't want your care to be restricted or dictated by insurance companies and we want our patients to have predictable costs.


Cash, check and all major credit cards are accepted at time of service for payment.


Many of our clients prefer to work with a doctor outside of their insurance plan for a variety of reasons, such as:

  • You enjoy a much greater degree of privacy and confidentiality, as we are not required to share as much of your personal information and history with the insurance companies.

  • You are not limited to only a certain number of sessions, or certain treatment protocols that are determined by the insurance companies in order to tightly control their costs.

  • Because you are working directly and privately with us, we can decide together on the methods we will use, and the length of time we will work together, rather than having these decisions made by a third party.

To determine if you will be reimbursed for my services by your insurance, the first thing you should do is call them.  Check your coverage carefully and make sure you understand their answers.  Determining if you will be reimbursed is your responsibility, prior to beginning treatment. 

Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

  • Do I have naturopathic insurance benefits?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • How many appointments per year does my health insurance cover?

  • What is the coverage amount per appointment?

  • Are there any other restrictions I should know about?

Cancellation Policy
If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment, and you have not notified us at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the appointment. Understand that we are holding that time slot for you, other people are not able to get an appointment at that time, and we are only paid when we provide care.
