My path to become a Naturopathic Doctor became clear at an early age. As a kid I was doing checkups on the other neighbor kids and constantly in the woods, exploring the natural world. As a teen I was using the little money I got from allowance and working at the local coffee shop to buy my own organic foods and was fascinated with nutrition and health. I realized that I didn’t want to live the life society had put before me. I wanted something different but wouldn’t find that for nearly a decade.
The recession was a blessing in disguise for me. I was laid off from a job in online advertising that I enjoyed doing, was good at, and was making a good living in but it wasn’t fulfilling a deeper yearning inside me. I could have tried to find another job in that field but something inside me was pushing me to do something different. So I took a leap and applied to go back to school. I was accepted into Bastyr University’s nutrition program and that is where this beautiful journey began. I planned to go on to graduate school to study medicine but didn’t know that would mean staying at Bastyr. Once at Bastyr I learned about Naturopathic Medicine and instantly knew that was what I had been searching for and was what I was meant to be doing.
When I’m not seeing patients or blogging you can find me DIY-ing, researching environmental medicine, fertility and current and historical medicine trends, cooking and eating good food, and exploring the outdoors.
